SMITHCO - BUSHING FOR KING PIN
The Smithco kingpin bushing holds the kingpin tight in place and eliminates the slop in stop and go traffic. As the bushing wears out you'll notice more slop when your stopping and going. The trailer will lurch/jerk as the play in the system catches to get it going down the road.

The Smithco kingpin bushing holds the kingpin tight in place and eliminates the slop in stop and go traffic. As the bushing wears out you'll notice more slop when your stopping and going. The trailer will lurch/jerk as the play in the system catches to get it going down the road. If you notice this; that's when you want to check into changing the pieces that are worn. The kingpin bushing is a weld in bushing; when you change it you have to cut the old one out of the 5th wheel plate and weld the new one in. It's critical that when you cut the old one out to replace with a new one; it's perfectly aligned and centered straight or the kingpin won't sit straight.
